One of the largest improvements to the vessel is the introduction of the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System, or EMALS, to replace existing steam catapult aircraft launch system technology.
The development and installation of this system on the flight deck of the carrier required a temporary cover to be built to encase the 3 launch mechanisms. These structures had to be well insulated, be easily moveable via crane, and have integrated power for workers and ventilation. RPC Industries, Inc. delivered the perfect solution. Through a SPF encapsulation of the three launch mechanisms, RPC Industries provided the perfect solution, allowing the project to continue without any delay.
